Why we exist

You didn’t start a nonprofit to write grant applications.

But somebody has to, so it becomes the executive director’s night job: deadlines chased at 10pm, rejections that feel personal, and funders who never explain why. A full-time grant writer costs $60,000+ a year, which most organizations don’t have.

We built a third option: a fractional development department. You get senior grant strategy, professional writing, and post-award management for a fraction of a single hire, with fixed prices published right here on this page.

How it works

One team, full cycle.

01

Strategy & research

We map the funders that actually fit your mission: foundations, state programs, federal opportunities. Then we build a calendar around the deadlines worth chasing.

02

Writing & submission

Every application is written from your real programs and data, not a template. We only submit what we believe can win. That discipline is where the success rate comes from.

03

Award & management

Winning is half the work. We handle post-award reporting and compliance, so funders renew and your audit record stays clean.

Questions, answered

The things people actually ask.

What's the difference between Simply Solutions and a freelance grant writer?

We don't leave after the application. A standard engagement with a freelance grant writer usually costs more out of pocket and is priced per application: they are paid regardless of the result and carry no responsibility after submission. At Simply Solutions we build multi-month engagements around a collaborative, flexible grant funding calendar, so you see a return on your engagement. That also gives us room to correct course on any opportunities that aren't awarded before the engagement ends. And we research every opportunity and report on every grant we wrote that gets awarded, which a freelance grant writer typically does not.

How much do your services cost?

Our prices are public, which is rare in this industry. Grant Management plans run from $1,500 to $6,500/month, matched to your annual funding goal, with full management including post-award reporting from $3,000/month. Grant Matching (research only) is $299/month. Newer organizations can start with the one-time $1,500 Grant Sprint. Every fee is fixed and confirmed in writing before we begin.

Is there a long-term contract?

Grant Management plans run 6 to 12 months, billed monthly, with a 6-month minimum engagement. That minimum gives award letters time to arrive, since funders can take several months to process the applications we submit, and funder relationships built in month 2 often pay off in month 9. The Grant Sprint has no contract beyond the 60–90 day engagement.

How quickly will we see funding?

On a Grant Management plan, most foundation and state grants run three to nine months from submission to award. That's why we build a year-round pipeline, so awards land continuously instead of occasionally. For newer organizations, the Grant Sprint targets first award notices within 60–90 days.

Do you only work with Ohio nonprofits?

No. We're rooted in Columbus and know Central Ohio's funders personally, and we also serve nonprofits in Atlanta and Miami, as well as clients nationwide and beyond. One of our largest engagements secured $2M+ for an international technology nonprofit.

Why is it a retainer instead of commission-based?

A retainer keeps every engagement within ethical guidelines: we work on your applications without any financial pull toward one grant over another. Commission-based writers often force larger, more competitive national or federal grants on organizations that aren't ready for them yet, because that's where the payout is. A base retainer means every client gets the best-fit strategy and the best service possible.

What is your grant success rate?

80% of the applications we submit are awarded, against an industry average of 10–30%. The number comes from selectivity, not luck: we research fit before we write and only submit applications we believe can win. Across 56+ organizations served, that discipline has secured $27M+ for our clients.

What types of organizations do you work with?

Mostly nonprofits, from newer grassroots groups to established organizations with multi-million dollar budgets, across social services, technology, cultural arts, and community programs. We also help some small businesses pursue grants they qualify for, such as an SBA grant for an Atlanta apparel company. If your programs match what funders support, we can likely help.

What happens on the free strategy call?

It's a 20–30 minute conversation about your organization, your programs, and your funding goals. We'll ask where your funding comes from today and what you've applied for before, then tell you honestly whether you're grant ready and which path fits. There's no obligation, and you'll leave with a clearer picture either way.

Who actually writes our grant applications?

Our own team does. Matios, our Co-founder and Chief Funding Strategist, leads grant strategy and writing, and Michael, our Co-founder and CEO, leads partnerships. Every application is handwritten by our human funding experts, with no AI used in the writing, and nothing is outsourced to an anonymous network of freelancers.

Ready to stop leaving money on the table?

20–30 minutes. No pitch, just an honest look at your funding landscape and whether we can help.
